Bay of Plenty / Taupo
Gidday! Rusty here from Mister Sharp. I’ve been keeping Taupo and the Bay of Plenty sharp since 2019, making sure your knives scissors and tools cut like a hot knife through butter and your fingers stay attached.
If it’s got an edge, I can usually rescue it. Honestly, don’t chuck out your old gear. The steel in your granddad’s old tools is miles better than the modern, disposable junk you buy today. And those chipped broken tipped knives you were using as a screwdriver – Let’s give them a second life instead of feeding the landfill.
Here is the honest breakdown of what I can and can’t sort for you:
What I Sharpen
- Knives: Everything from heavy machetes down to the humble cheese knife.
- Scissors: Standard household scisssors, dressmaker scissors, and tough upholstery shears.
- Kitchen Gear: Mandolines, grill scrapers, spatulas, blender blades, and pizza cutters & wheels.
- Garden Tools: Secateurs, loppers, manual hedge clippers, axes, spades, edgers, and weeders.
- Builder Tools: Wood chisels, planer blades, drill bits 5-22mm and tin snips.
- Woodturners & Carvers tools: Gouges and specialised carving chisels.
- Guillotines: Commercial office units, school cutters, or home craft gear.
What I Do Not Touch
- Hairdressing scissors: Way too fussy for my mobile workshop.
- Dog / horse/ human grooming combs: No thanks, I’ll stick to the straight edges.
- Reel mowers: Too many moving parts for a simple bloke.
- Electric hedge clippers: Best left to the power tool specialists.
Where I Travel
I’m proudly based in Taupo, but I regularly load up the ute and do service runs out to Tauranga, Mt Maunganui, Papamoa, and Rotorua.
